XenServer
Now Available
XenServer Updates
Normal Channel Updates - May 27, 2025
What's New
- IntelliCache now supports SMB3 and shared LVM (iSCSI and HBA storage)
Improvements:
- Decrease the number of DNS lookups to Active Directory
- Improve kernel stability for storage
- Logging improvements in storage I/O management
- Updates to collected telemetry
Normal Channel Updates - May 12, 2025
Security Fix
- XenServer and Citrix Hypervisor Security Update for CVE-2024-28956
Improvements:
- Work around for Ice Lake erratum ICX143, which manifests as a hang on boot
XenServer 2025.2.0
- Improved live patching advice. XenCenter displays extra guidance when partial live patches are available for a set of updates. Use this information to avoid unnecessary host reboots.
- Improvements to the VM import mechanism. You are now prompted to select a template when importing VMs from disk images, which provides greater consistency between imported VMs.
- Ensure compatibility between XenCenter and the latest XenServer updates. If you attempt to apply a set of updates to your pool that are not compatible with your current version of XenCenter, XenCenter blocks the update and prompts you to update your XenCenter to the latest version. This check ensures that your XenCenter does not lose connection with your pool during the update process.
- Improvements to the root password change options. The option to change the pool root password is now shown only on the Pool menu. It was previously also shown on the Server menu.
- When you select multiple pools or standalone hosts to apply licenses to at the same time, XenCenter now handles these pools in parallel, rather than sequentially. This change speeds the licensing process.
- When a host exits maintenance mode, the previously evacuated VMs are now returned to it in parallel instead of one at a time. This speeds up the process of moving VMs back to their original host.
- Resolves multiple issues including blank performance graphs for XenServer 8.4, unsaved network settings, crashes during HA events, toolstack update errors, UI bugs, import failures, and problems with saved hosts, AD domain access, and update wizards.
XenServer VM Tools for Windows 9.4.1
Fixed Issues:
- In some cases, with XenServer VM Tools 9.4.0 installed, Windows 11 cannot be upgraded from 23H2 to 24H2
- The Management Agent can sometimes crash on VM reboot or startup
- Some Windows VMs can experience unexpected hard reboots
- All customers who are affected by the issue described in CTX692748 - XenServer and Citrix Hypervisor Security Bulletin should update to this version of the tools or later
Conversion Manager 8.5.0*
- VM template association: When converting a VM, you can associate it with a XenServer guest template. Using a template in the conversion ensures that the converted VMs have consistent configurations and behave more reliably.
- XenServer VM Tools configuration: As part of the conversion process, you can now configure whether the Windows drivers included in the XenServer VM Tools for Windows are automatically updated.
*Note: To use these features in Conversion Manager 8.5.0, ensure that your XenCenter is using 2025.2 or above.
SDK 2.17.0
